Forget where you parked your Mercedes-Benz? Don't worry, soon you will be able to find it by checking your watch.
Pebble, the smart watch that came to life thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, has announced that it's teaming up with Mercedes-Benz.
Now you will be able to access Mercedes-Benz's Digital DriveStyle app with Pebble — meaning you can locate your car, check how much gas you have left and make sure that you locked your car door with a quick glance at your wrist. Drivers can also set it to vibrate to warn them if accidents or road construction are blocking the road ahead.
The collaboration will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week in Las Vegas. It brings together two trends that should be big at CES 2014: wearable computers and car tech.
Archos will premiere a new line of smart watches that will sell for under $100, while Samsung is expected to debut its SmartWatch 3, despite only releasing the SmartWatch 2 in June.
As for automotive technology, Google will show off its collaboration with Audi, which will let drivers bring up Android apps on their dashboards. Meanwhile, Ford will unveil its solar-powered concept car.
Of course, if you don't want to buy a smart watch, you can always just download the Digital DriveStyle app for your smartphone and check in on your gleaming new Mercedes-Benz that way. But if you're the kind of person who uses Google Glass to navigate your SLK around Silicon Valley, you're going to want use Pebble instead.
