A former Facebook employee is suing the social media network for discrimination. Chia Hong, a Taiwanese woman who worked as a technology partner at Facebook, claims in a lawsuit that she was "discriminated against, harassed, and retaliated against" before she was fired in October 2013. The lawsuit was filed by Lawless & Lawless, the same firm that is handling the high-profile discrimination case of Ellen Pao, who is suing Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
Hong's lawsuit, filed this week in San Mateo County Superior Court, alleges that her boss, Anil Wilson, asked her "why she did not just stay home and take care of her child instead of having a career." The suit contends she was asked to organize parties and serve drinks to male colleagues, "which was not a part of her job description and not something that was requested of males with whom she worked." Facebook did not immediately respond to an NBC News request for comment.
