The BioWare of today is known for big budget blockbusters like "Mass Effect" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic." But there are many out there who remember the games that put them on the map as being comparatively modest. Yet they offer just as engrossing an experience. One such title is making a comeback, the PC classic "Baldur's Gate." A version is due later this summer for the iPad.
Overhaul Games, comprised of ex-BioWare members, is handling the port of "Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition." Its website states: "For years we've wanted to continue our journey on Baldur's Gate, and now after months negotiations we get to do just that."
According to G4, the re-release will include the original, 1998 classic, the "Tales of the Sword Coast," and brand new content, including a new adventure and a new party member.
Here's the best part: the game will be playable on all three iPad models. A few high profile games that were released for the iPad 2 were not made compatible for the first-gen iPad, despite fundamentally similar hardware, so many who expected the same song and dance can relax in the case of "Baldur's Gate."
The only questions that remain pertain to multiplayer support, which will be addressed at a later time. "Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition" is also due for its original platform, later this summer on the PC.
