Get ready for lots of time-lapse videos of boozy brunches and pairs of feet on the beach. Instagram's new app Hyperlapse lets users shoot cinematic time-lapse videos with the tap of a smartphone button -- no high-tech video equipment required.

Unlike traditional time-lapse videos, which use still cameras as they film, the Hyperlapse app uses "built-in stabilization technology" that lets users film as they move, Instagram said in its announcement Tuesday. Hyperlapse doesn't require an account; the app opens right to the camera, and like regular video shooting, users simply tap to start recording and tap again to stop. From there users choose the time-lapse speed, which defaults at six times faster than normal, and shoot video for as long or short as they'd like. Hyperlapse videos can also be shared to Instagram, but they'll be confined to 15 seconds in that signature square format.
