Facebook is taking a page from Snapchat's playbook and is now letting some users schedule their posts to disappear. Not everybody can do it; according to Facebook's help page, the feature "is only available in some areas right now." The company confirmed to NBC News that it was "running a small pilot of a feature on Facebook for iOS that lets people schedule deletion of their posts in advance.” Ephemeral messaging apps like Snapchat — which let people send messages that can only be viewed temporarily — have been all the rage lately. Facebook has released several ephemeral messaging apps over the last few months, including Slingshot and Bolt. The company would not comment on why Facebook for iOS was stepping into Snapchat territory or how long it has been testing the new feature.
