Java junkies, get your smartphones ready. Square announced a new feature on Wednesday that will let users order their coffee whenever and wherever they want, notify baristas to start making a drink when the user is approaching the cafe, and then automatically charge the customer when they walk out of the door. Right now, it's only available at the dozen Blue Bottle locations in New York City and San Francisco. (For the uninitiated, Blue Bottle is home of the absurdly delicious — but none too cheap — New Orleans-style iced coffee.) But Square definitely has plans to partner with other companies in the future, a spokesperson told NBC News. All users need to do is download the latest version of the Square Order app for iOS and Android. As for Starbucks customers, they will have to settle for shake-to-pay and digital tip technology, as a pre-ordering feature is still in the works.
