Wearables and mobile apps to automatically track our heart rate, steps and sleep patterns are flooding the market. Now, Cornell researchers are working with a device that may help record the user's eating habits. "We see 'quantified self' and health tracking taking off, but one unsolved problem is how to track food consumption in an automated way," research leader Tanzeem Choudhury told MIT Technology Review. "This can reliably detect the onset of eating and how frequently are you eating." Though currently a prototype, similar devices may someday find their way on larger wearables, such as Google Glass.
