Popular TV streaming service Hulu provides free access to hundreds of top TV shows on the Web, and soon mobile users will be able to take advantage of that same convenience — with a notable caveat. The video provider announced Wednesday that TV junkies will be able to stream select shows on mobile devices for free starting this summer.
Hulu apps are already available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Nook, Kindle, Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita, though you need to have a Hulu Plus subscription ($7.99 per month) to watch shows on those devices.
Hulu did not specify how many or which programs will be available on mobile for free, and we're not sure if the free content stretches to game consoles like the 3DS and Vita or if it's limited to smartphones and tablets.

In addition to free mobile content, Hulu announced that it will be launching a new version of the Hulu Plus iPhone app this summer.
This news comes from Hulu's annual upfront, where it announced new seasons for its exclusive Hulu Originals like "Deadbeat," "The Awesomes," and "Quick Draw." At the upfront, the company discussed plans to devote triple the marketing resources to its Hulu Originals. As of Wednesday, the streaming service has surpassed 6 million subscribers.
On top of its Web and mobile incarnations, Hulu Plus is currently available on Xbox One and 360, Playstation 3 and 4, Nintendo Wii and Wii U, and select set-top boxes, Blu-Ray players and Smart TVs.
