Within one day of its release, the Consumer Preview of Windows 8 has reached more than one million downloads.

The team building Windows 8 tweeted out the million downloads milestone yesterday and offers system recommendations on its blog as well .

Users can poke around the OS, which is free in this version, but to make the most of it, you need a device with a touchscreen.
