Snow Lizard Products came up with a prototype for a super tough, solar-charged, battery boosting waterproof iPhone 4/4S case. But instead of going the usual funding route to make it happen, the company turned to Kickstarter, where they found an overwhelming response. They got the green light big time -- as in lots of dollar signs over their $75,000 goal.
The Aqua Tek S instantly attracts attention with its expedition-ready design, and with bells and whistles such as different colors and access to the camera, volume buttons, speakers and multi-touch display. It's not a shocker that folks are psyched about it.
The Kickstarter currently has 663 backers that have pledged to sink $92,195 to see the Aqua Tek in real life. The pledge period ends March 10.
(Looks like Snow Lizard found those "technology enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies" they sought "to make this product a reality.")
The device is expected to retail for about $130 and with a pledge of $100, you could receive one of the first cases, which come in orange, black and "urban camo." Here are the other pledge options:
- Pledge $25 and receive a Snow Lizard Polo and opportunity to be one of the first to purchase the Aqua Tek S case.
- Pledge $175 and receive cases, and for a pledge of $350 receive four.
- Pledge $1,000 and receive 2 ski passes to Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley and four cases (limited to the first 20 contributors).
- Pledge $5,000 and receive a distribution package of 100 customizable cases or a weekend in Park City for four days at a resort of your choice with four guests and four cases (Limited to 10 contributors).
