Heavy texters on Verizon's network will be happy to learn that a new version of their Verizon Messages app has been issued, allowing incoming messages to be sent to multiple devices or your browser.
Version 4.0 of Verizon's in-house SMS app brings a couple helpful features to the carrier's customers. The most useful one is probably the new "Integrated Messaging System," whereby all messages sent to and from your phone number can be synced across devices and to a Web client.
Log into the Verizon site or another device's Verizon Messages app with your mobile number and you'll see the last 90 days of conversations, complete with attachments, locations and so on. You can browse by recipient or check through all your MMS pictures for one in particular.
The extra features may help keep customers using SMS rather then switching over to services like iMessages or Google Talk, depriving Verizon of income from texting fees.
You can also set up an auto-reply message, for instance during the drive home, so urgent messages will instantly be replied to with an explanation or excuse of your choice.
The latest version of the app is available now in the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store, and the My Verizon website should show the web app when users log in.
