Every now and then, you might need to print something from your phone — a grocery list, address or email, for instance — but when you're out and about, how are you supposed to do it? The droPrinter is a pint-size solution to this mild annoyance. It's essentially a receipt printer, using rolls of thermal paper like any checkout machine, but can print all kinds of things from your phone. The creators are raising money on Kickstarter to produce a first run of the handheld gadget.

Photos won't look so hot: this thing only prints one color — black. But maps and directions will look fine, as will any other text or simple drawings or diagrams. And if it's anything like the Little Printer, a slightly larger gadget along these lines, you could even get daily updates printed out when you wake up — a Twitter digest, the latest weather, or a couple puzzles to jump-start your brain over breakfast. It'll run for 7 hours of printing or 120 hours of standby.
The makers of the droPrinter have already more than tripled their modest goal of $11,224, and you can still back the project. You'll need to pledge about $60 to get a printer of your own.
