Apple lowered the starting price of its iPad 2 to $399, a $100 drop from the original price of the 16GB, Wi-Fi only version.

The new iPad, introduced Wednesday, will start at $499. Apple had been expected to cut the price of the "older" iPad 2, released last year. The price of the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G model is now $529, down from the original price of $629.

There are no longer any 32GB or 64GB versions of the iPad 2 available via Apple, the company said. But you can find plenty of them online; check Amazon and eBay, as well as price-comparison shopping sites, such as PriceGrabber.com.

Some retailers, anticipating Wednesday's announcement of the new iPad, began dropping prices on the iPad 2 last week. Best Buy reduced the price by $50, and Radio Shack lopped $20 off the Wi-Fi models, and $50 off the Wi-Fi + 3G models.
