Best Buy slips, offers Samsung 'Nexus Prime' early

We know Best Buy had a lot going on last week with its Black Friday and Cyber Monday blitz, but proof of the frenzy is that it accidentally posted a promo of the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, well before its official release date — and called it by its pre-release name, "Nexus Prime."

The listing, which appeared on a partner site but was confirmed as Best Buy's own promotion, sets the price of the device at $300. While that may be true, it also says that it'll be available at this price from Nov. 27 - Dec. 31. In truth, Galaxy Nexus isn't yet available in the U.S.

It does get other details correct as we know it, namely that it'll run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and be available on Verizon Wireless, which has told us that they don't have a more specific release date other than it'll arrive before the end of the year.

We took a screen grab of the listing, which is a good thing since it was later pulled down (as you'll see if you try to click the link).

Best Buy responded to our inquiry, saying that what we saw was a digitized version of their Buyer's Guide. Prime was the working name for the phone at the time the Buyer's Guide went to print. Here's what Best Buy's spokesman told msnbc.com:

Thanks to Droid Life for picking up on this Sunday, while everyone was still waking up from post-turkey meal and leftovers food comas. Android Police picked up another discrepancy last week: a Verizon Wireless ad that showed the price for the phone at $200.

We still think it's going to list for $299.99 — and that's with a 2-year contract.
