Apple Stores to open 8 a.m. for iPad launch

With long lines expected for buyers of the new iPad, Apple Stores will open at 8 a.m. Friday, the first day the new tablet becomes available.

The start time is two hours earlier than when the stores normally open, and applies to Apple Stores in the U.S., as well as those in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Switzerland.

If you don't feel like waiting in line, and haven't pre-ordered, the new iPad will also be available at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Radio Shack and Sam's Club.

Starting March 23, it also goes on sale in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
