In space, no one can hear you scream — unless, perhaps, it’s U.S. vs. Germany in a crucial World Cup match. Thursday’s much-anticipated game will have astronauts aboard the International Space Station cheering madly from both sides: Americans Reid Wiseman and Steve Swanson for USA and Alexander Gerst for his home country Germany. According to NASA, the crew is checking its busy schedule for Thursday to see how they can fit in watching the game during what will be afternoon time for them, 260 miles above Earth. “I believe we will win. It’s two against one up here, so I think the U.S. chances are pretty good,” Wiseman said during an in-flight interview with ESPN on Tuesday. It may be just a friendly competition among crewmates but the stakes are high. “If the U.S. wins, these guys are going to draw a little U.S. flag on my head, but I think if Germany wins these guys should have to shave their heads," Gerst said. "Either way I’m looking forward to the game. It’s going to be fun."
