The woman who was being interviewed when a gunman opened fire on live television in Virginia last month is out of the hospital.
Vicki Gardner, who was shot in the back, was released on Monday, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital said in a statement. The hospital said it was pleased to share the news but did not elaborate on her recovery.
Gardner, the executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, was being interviewed during the WDBJ morning show Aug. 26 when a disgruntled former reporter for the station walked up and started shooting.
Alison Parker, the reporter conducting the interview, and Adam Ward, the cameraman, were killed. The gunman, Vester Flanagan, took his own life later that day as police were chasing him.

Gardner underwent two surgeries after the shooting and lost her right kidney, her family has said. A family spokesman said that Gardner has a vivid memory of the attack and remembers dodging bullets.
