Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has thoughts on a lot of things: an upcoming visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, fast-track authority for presidential approval of trade deals… and Deflate-Gate.
Speaking to reporters for his first press conference since an exercise accident that left his right eye bandaged, the avid sports fan was asked what he thinks about the ongoing controversy over the under-inflation of footballs during the game that sent the New England Patriots to the Superbowl next month.
“I can't believe the National Football League, with the billions of dollars they make, couldn't at least determine how much air should be in a football,” said the most powerful Democrat in the United States Senate. “I don't see why it should be left up to the teams.”
Reid also disclosed that he always reads the sports page “first,” because “there's such good news in the sports page.”
