Even for top members of Congress, the State of the Union is sometimes a snoozefest.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid admitted he's dozed off during previous addresses.
"I frankly have dozed off once or twice," he told reporters at the Capitol.
He was quick to add: "Not during the Obama years, of course."
Reid was answering a question about what he hoped Obama wouldn't propose or discuss during the upcoming speech.
"The only thing that would ever trouble me is if he said, 'Reid, stop dozing off.' Okay?" Reid said.
Reid said that former Senate aide Katie Beirne Fallon told Senate leaders that the president's speech tonight is going to be on the shorter side -- suggesting that he wasn't likely to nap this evening.
"I am alert and ah, I understand the speech isn't going to be very long," Reid said. Fallon said "it's not going to be a record breaker for length, so we'll see."
