Twitter is exploring ways to cut down on user harassment after Zelda Williams was driven off the service by Internet trolls who posted nasty insults and images about her late father, actor and comedian Robin Williams. "We will not tolerate abuse of this nature on Twitter. We have suspended a number of accounts related to this issue for violating our rules and we are in the process of evaluating how we can further improve our policies to better handle tragic situations like this one,” Del Harvey, vice president of trust and safety at Twitter, said in a statement Thursday. “This includes expanding our policies regarding self-harm and private information, and improving support for family members of deceased users."
Robin Williams was found dead in his bedroom from an apparent suicide on Monday. The next day, Zelda Williams, 25, announced she was leaving Twitter and Instagram after coming across “cruel and unnecessary” online posts and photos of her dad.
