The Eagles of Death Metal returned to the Bataclan Theater Tuesday for the first time since their concert at the venue was interrupted by flying bullets during the Paris attacks.
Band members placed flowers in front of the building as rain fell and a handful of bystanders gathered to watch. The club has not reopened but the street has been covered with flowers, candles and other mementos to honor the 89 people killed there.
The California-based group escaped injury by hiding in a dressing room, but a British merchandise manager working for them was among the dead.
Eagles of Death Metal co-founder Jesse Hughes told HBO and Vice in a recent interview that he wants the band to return to the stage at the Bataclan when the theater is operational again. The band joined U2, which chose to cancel a concert in Paris following the attacks, on stage at the city's AccorHotels Arena on Monday night.
Hughes performed Patti Smith's "People Have the Power" for an elated crowd.
The attack at the Bataclan was part of a coordinated series of terror attacks in Paris on Nov. 13 that left 130 people dead in all.
