A lawyer representing women who claim to have been be victims of abuse at the hands of one NFL player added allegations against another, this time for rape, according to a statement released Friday. Gloria Allred, an attorney who specializes in women’s rights issues, said her client was raped by an unnamed NFL player on Saturday, was questioned by police the same day and played in a game the next day Sunday. He was not arrested, she said.
"We have asked the NFL whether or not this alleged rape was reported to them and if they approved this accused individual's playing in the game notwithstanding the allegations that had been made against him," Allred wrote. In response, an NFL spokesperson said: "We have no information on this alleged incident other than her letter."
Previously, Allred held a news conference in Atlanta, claiming that the NFL had ignored complaints of domestic violence against Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who has denied wrongdoing. "We have asked the Commissioner to provide us with a response by Monday," Allred concluded.
