Embattled NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held a lengthy meeting with NFL team owners on Wednesday to discuss domestic violence prevention and to speak to the media.
"We had a long meeting today began at 8:30 (a.m), it was about 6 o'clock when we broke," Goodell started. It was the first full meeting with the heads of the NFL's 32 teams since the beginning of the season, and the commissioner said there was " a tremendous focus on our approach to social responsibility."
Goodell said that they spent about five to six hours talking about policy changes and "how we would make decisions on a more timely basis."
And "a great deal of focus on what support services we can provide to the family, particularly in the case of domestic violence, to the victim, the the children, if necessary, and to the perpetrator himself — or herself," he said.
He said no concrete decisions were made, but "everything was on the table."
League execs began the session a video featuring former player and current motivational speaker Joe Ehrmann, who encouraged the male viewers to visualize a woman close to them being the victim of abuse and "think about the role that you have to raise up a generation of men that are going to have the clarity, or have the moral courage to call out other men."
