Kazakhstan did not detect any “unsanctioned use” of its airspace on the day that the Malaysia Airlines jet went missing, the country’s civil aviation committee said Monday.

Hypothetically the Boeing 777 could have reached the country but it would have been detected they said, adding that nine Malaysia Airlines planes made regular flights to and from Europe over the country on the day that flight MH370 disappeared.

"Even if all on-board equipment is switched off, it is impossible to fly through in a silent mode," said the statement signed by the committee's deputy head Serik Mukhtybayev. "There are also military bodies monitoring the country's air space."
