Ten aircraft and 10 ships will resume scouring for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet early Monday (late Sunday ET), Australian authorities said.
In a release, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, which is coordinating the grueling search, said the search operation was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday (local time). On Sunday, searchers found no debris linked to the Malaysian jet that disappeared over three weeks ago, though new debris was sighted from the air.
Searchers from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, South Korea, Malaysia and the United States are set to participate in the hunt Monday. ASMA said the operation had staggered aircraft and ship departure times between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The Ocean Shield, a Royal Australian Navy ship, was due to depart from Perth, Australia, at an unspecified time early Monday. It has now been fitted with a black-box detector and an autonomous underwater vehicle, ASMA said in the release.
