The missing Malaysia Airlines jet underwent maintenance just 12 days before it vanished, the firm said Tuesday.

"There were no issues on the health of the aircraft" when the maintenance was conducted in a hangar at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Feb. 23, according to a statement. The Boeing 777's next check was due on June 19.

The statement added: "The aircraft was delivered to Malaysia Airlines in 2002 and [has] since recorded 53,465.21 hours with a total of 7525 cycles."
