Malaysia Airlines is asking for prayers from around the world for Flight 370.
In a statement early Sunday local time — and more than 24 hours after air traffic controllers lost touch with the jumbo jet — the airline said there was still no evidence of wreckage. In a possible clue, Vietnamese planes spotted oil slicks off the coast of Vietnam.
The airline said it was sending “caregivers and volunteers” to Beijing, where anguished family members have gathered. More than half of the 239 people on board were Chinese.
Malaysia Airlines also encouraged families to gather in Kuala Lumpur, where the flight took off. The airline said it would cover their travel costs.
“Once the whereabouts of the aircraft is determined, Malaysia Airlines will fly members of the family to the location,” the statement said.
