High winds hampered Australian searchers trying to reach an area of the Indian Ocean where potential debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines jet has been spotted.
Visibility was good in the remote area where satellite images taken on Sunday showed two objects, Royal Australian Air Force Flight Lieutenant Russell Adams told a news briefing. However, high winds slowed the journey to the area. The plane did not find any sign of debris.
The search zone is about 1,400 miles southwest of Perth, Australia. That distance is farther than a trip between New York and Oklahoma City.
Once crews reach the remote stretch of water, they only have a two-hour search window before having to return to land to refuel, officials said.
