The focus of the hunt for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet remains “finding people to be rescued,” the head of the Australian search effort said Friday.
“The plan is that we want to find these objects because they are the best lead to where we might find people to be rescued,” John Young, general manager of Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Emergency Response Division, said in an interview posted on YouTube. “We have done some work in that area and we are still focused on that task of finding people to be rescued."
The Boeing 777 vanished without a trace on March 8.
On Friday, five planes searched the remote waters in the southern Indian Ocean for a second day after two objects were spotted by satellite imagery that might be linked to Flight 370.
