LONDON — A Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli civilian in the West Bank and was then shot by security forces, Israeli officials said Monday. Israeli Army spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said on Twitter that the civilian was "lightly wounded" in the attack near Gush Etzion junction in the southern West Bank.

"The attacker was shot by security personnel on the spot and was vacated for further medical assistance," he added in a post on his official Facebook page. Monday's attack is the latest in a wave of violence between Israelis and Palestinians in recent months. Much of the recent tension has been amplified by disputes over access to a holy site in Jerusalem.
