Israel's ambassador to United Nations on Sunday dismissed claims by a terror group that it had captured an Israeli soldier in Gaza.

During a break in an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting on the escalating crisis between Israel and Palestinians, Ambassador Ron Proson said, "There is no kidnapped Israeli soldier and those rumors are untrue."

His comments came hours after the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, claimed on television that it had captured an Israeli soldier during the fighting, providing his name and showing the dog tags they said they had seized from him.
