The gunman who shot 11 people at a Louisiana movie theater last week calmly purchased his ticket minutes before his rampage began, newly released footage shows.

Surveillance video from the Grand Theatre in Lafayette shows John Houser casually buying a ticket, crossing the lobby, and walking toward Theater 14, where shortly after the movie "Trainwreck" started, he started shooting. He killed two people and then himself, police say.

Houser, 59, is wearing a T-shirt and shorts and appears to be in no rush as he follows other moviegoers down a carpeted hallway to Theater 14. The black-and-white, silent video does not show the shooting spree or any footage once Houser enters Theater 14.

Police also released 911 calls and dispatch tapes from the attack — as well as dash cam video from the patrol car of the first officer on scene. The recordings provide a fresh look at how quickly police responded to the shooting and cleared the movie theater.

An operator can be heard warning responding officers about Houser’s whereabouts: "...be advised, they said he’s inside. He’s in uh, number 14. He is reloading. He has a weapon. We have an active shooter here,” he said.

As police entered the theater, they discovered more victims, and Houser with a self-inflicted wound.

"Alright, we’ve got several more victims inside. Suspect is down," one breathless officer transmitted.

Houser, a drifter, was also seen on surveillance video checking into a motel near the theater in early July. Police say they found a wig and glasses in his motel room that they believe Houser used to disguise himself.

Authorities have not said what they believe the motive was for Houser's attack, which killed Mayci Breaux, 21, and Jillian Johnson, 33. Despite being committed to mental health treatment in 2008, Houser had no trouble buying a .40-caliber handgun in Alabama last year. He used that weapon in last Thursday's shooting.
