General Motors has issued four separate, new recalls for more than 2.4 million vehicles in the United States, the automaker announced on Tuesday.
The cars include 2009-2014 model years of the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia, and 2004-2008 model years of the Chevrolet Malibu. Cadillac Escalades, Chevrolet Silverado pickups and GMC Sierras from the 2015 model year were also among the vehicles involved in the recalls.
GM said that it was issuing the recalls "in a continuing effort to quickly address emerging safety issues."
The company will also take as much as a $400 million charge in the second quarter, including a previously announced $200 million charge, to cover recall-related repairs over the quarter.
On May 16 the automaker announced it had reached an agreement with the government to pay a maximum civil penalty of $35 million after failing to report fatal ignition switch flaws that led to 13 deaths.
The fine was the “single highest civil penalty amount ever paid as a result of a NHTSA investigation of violations stemming from a recall,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
As part of the deal, GM also agreed to “unprecedented oversight,” and will comply with a government order to make changes to how it reviews “safety-related issues” in the U.S.
A press release from the company on Tuesday noted that there have not been any fatalities associated with any of the new recalls.
“GM has added 35 product investigators since the beginning of 2014, and, including those announced today, has initiated 29 safety and non-compliance recalls in the U.S. so far this year,” the company said in a release. “Two of the recalls involve fewer than 100 vehicles.”
The company said in late April that is is being investigated by the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office in New York, and Securities and Exchange Commission as a result of its handling of the ignition switch recall.
