General Motors issued four safety recalls Friday covering 428,211 vehicles in the U.S., the latest in its growing list of recall troubles. The largest covers 392,459 four-wheel-drive Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups, as well as GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs in the U.S. The company says the transmissions can shift into neutral on their own. That can cause loss of power or it can let the trucks roll away if parked. GM says it knows of no crashes or injuries related to that problem. Earlier this week, GM ordered dealers to stop selling some 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruzes because of a possible airbag problem. On Friday, the maker recalled 29,019 vehicles to replace the driver’s side air bag inflator, which could rupture. GM is aware of one injury related to the issue. The other recalls are much smaller. One covers the Chevrolet SS and Caprice police cars for windshield wipers. The other covers Chevy Corvettes with defective rear shock absorbers. Several thousand more vehicles have been recalled internationally.
