Counseling is being offered at the Fort Hood military base in Texas on Thursday as workers and their families face the aftermath of a shooting tragedy for the second time in five years.
Physical training for soldiers at the base in Texas was canceled for the day in the wake of a deadly rampage in which an Iraq veteran killed three fellow military personnel before turning the gun on himself.
“The Fort Hood Senior Commander has cancelled Physical Training (PT) for April 3,” the base announced on hits Twitter feed.
“Chaplains have also setup family counseling centers” at the base and the local civilian hospital where nine of the most seriously wounded were being treated, officials announced on the base Facebook page.
Wednesday afternoon’s shooting brought painful memories of “November Fifth” — the day in 2009 when former Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at the Texas installation, killing 13 and wounding more than 30 people.
