The Peace Corps pulled its volunteers out of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea on Wednesday as the largest outbreak of the Ebola virus in history terrorizes West Africa.

Two Peace Corps volunteers are under isolation outside the U.S. after having contact with a person who later died of the Ebola virus, a State Department official told The Associated Press. The volunteers are not symptomatic and are currently isolated under observation.

With the virus spreading out of control, the Peace Corps said in a statement that it would wait to determine whether and when its 102 volunteers in Guinea, 108 in Liberia and 130 in Sierra Leone might return. The outbreak has killed at least 672 people across West Africa. A Maryland man who was stranded in the country died Wednesday morning in Sinkor, Liberia, his family said.
