Chris Singleton, son of slain Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, attended a vigil in his mother's honor Thursday at Goose Creek High School in suburban Charleston.

“We forgive, that’s one thing we are going to do,” he told NBC station WCBD. “She’s the best mom I could even ever ask for. Honestly, it’s going to be tough but I know we will get through it as a family.”

Coleman-Singleton, 45, was a speech therapist and girls' track and field coach at the school.

She was one of nine people slain while attending a Bible study at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday night.
