LAS VEGAS — This lamp won't grant you any wishes, but Sony's upcoming "Symphonic Light" speaker-lamp combines light and sound in a way that looks a bit magical.
The lantern-like lamp doesn't look like a traditional speaker — because it uses glass to reproduce sound.
Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai briefly detailed the new tower-shaped gadget at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Monday night. Hirai didn't spend much time talking about the Symphonic Light — no details on release date or price were given — but the tower-shaped lamp is part of a larger "Life Space UX" concept Sony announced at the 2014 CES.
That design philosophy is meant "make the most of living spaces" by integrating technology seamlessly, starting with a 4K resolution projector released last September. Sony is trying to make products that "stimulate a deeper emotional response," Hirai said Monday.
