HBO Now, the premium channel's standalone streaming service, will launch exclusively on Apple TV in April for $14.99 a month. The announcement was made on Monday at the Apple event in San Francisco. "Game of Thrones" fans will be happy to know HBO Now will launch before the show's April 12 premiere. Apple is also lowering the price of Apple TV to $69, down from $99. Early subscribers will also get a free month of HBO Now. Rumors of a partnership between Apple and HBO bubbled up last week, but now people who want to watch shows like "Silicon Valley," "Veep" and other original programs know they can ditch their friend's HBO GO password and subscribe to HBO Now.
