The Philadelphia Flyers have suspended play-by-play radio broadcaster Tim Saunders after he was caught making an inappropriate comment on a hot mic.
The incident happened during Thursday's radio broadcast of the Flyers game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Saunders tossed to what he thought would be a commercial break for the NHL match, and after a brief period of silence, he uttered a crude reference to oral sex.
His broadcast partner, Todd Fedoruk, alerted Saunders.
"I think we’re still on the air, Tim," Fedoruk said.
Saunders laughed and said, "No we're not, are we?"
The Flyers addressed Saunders' distasteful comment and announced his suspension in a statement posted to X on Friday morning.
"These remarks do not reflect the standards of conduct or values we expect from anyone associated with our organization," the team wrote.
"Effective immediately, the Flyers, along with our radio partners, 97.5 The Fanatic, have issued a two-game suspension while we address this matter with all parties involved," the statement added.
The team also apologized to those affected by Saunders' comment.
