Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Prescott left Sunday’s 27-21 loss against the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth quarter with the injury and was replaced by backup quarterback Cooper Rush.

Prescott was taken out with the Cowboys trailing 27-13. He had completed 18 of 24 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown before his day ended.

The Cowboys started the season 3-2 but have since lost three straight games to drop to 3-5.

Prescott has struggled this year, throwing for 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions through Sunday’s game.

His 86.0 passer rating through eight games is the worst mark of his career, as is his quarterback rating of 46.6. Prescott’s completion percentage and yards per attempt average through Week 9 are the second-lowest marks of his career.

In September, Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract that made him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to multiple reports. The deal includes $231 million in guaranteed money.

Rush, 30, spent the first three years of his career with the Cowboys. He played for the New York Giants in 2020 before he rejoined Dallas in 2021.

Rush had his most extensive playing time in the 2022 season, starting five games in place of an injured Prescott. He went 4-1.

In his career before Sunday, Rush had completed 60.8% of his passes for 1,671 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.

The Cowboys, who are in third place in the NFC East, play their divisional rival the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.
