Don’t expect a long stay in Pittsburgh for newly signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers said he signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers because the 2025 NFL season is likely to be his final one.

“I’m pretty sure this is it, you know, that’s why we just did a one-year deal,” Rodgers said when asked if the upcoming season would be his last. “Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything. This is really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”

He added: “What better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL.”

Rodgers, 41, has played 20 seasons.

He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. After sitting behind Brett Favre for three seasons, Rodgers became the team’s full-time starter in 2008.

Rodgers played 18 years with the Packers, leading the team to a Super Bowl victory after the 2010 season.

In 2023, Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, where he spent the last two seasons.

He appeared in only one game in 2023 before tearing his Achilles, but he played all 17 games last season. In 2024, Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His 90.5 passer rating was his lowest for any season in which he started at least seven games.

The Steelers went 10-7 last season, finishing second in the AFC North. They lost 28-14 to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
