Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream go head-to-head with Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty tonight at Barclays Center in a contest that could preview a first-round WNBA playoff showdown. Live coverage begins at 8:00 PM ET on NBCSN and Peacock.
Tonight’s game marks the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The Liberty won the first meeting 104-90 on June 11 in Atlanta. Both teams will meet again this Wednesday, September 23.

Atlanta Dream vs New York Liberty Game Preview:
The Atlanta Dream are seeking their first WNBA championship in franchise history.
Head coach Karl Smesko, in his second season at the helm, has led the Dream to 20-plus wins in consecutive seasons, for the first time in franchise history.
Atlanta’s defense has been among the league’s best this season, with Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada, and Angel Reese ranking first, second, and third in the league in steals per game, respectively.
Atlanta leads the league in turnovers forced (15.98 per game).
In their most recent game, a 106-81 win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday night, Reese hit a major milestone, becoming the first player in league history to reach 500 rebounds in a single season.
The three-time WNBA All-Star finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds against her former team.
“I’m not satisfied. This is just the beginning. This is the start,” Reese said after the game. “This is year three for me. I mean, I want to be in the league for a good amount of time. I want to win championships. I want to break records, and I’m just happy to be in Atlanta. I want to do it all in Atlanta.”
The Liberty are looking to become just the second team in league history to win a Commissioners Cup and WNBA title in the same season.
New York, which clinched a playoff berth for the sixth consecutive season, boasts its own All-Star trio in Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones.
Stewie, fresh off the FIBA World Cup championship run where she was named tournament MVP, leads the Liberty in scoring at 20.7 points per game.
Four-time All Star Ionescu Ionescu leads the team in assists (4.9 apg) and ranks second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg).
Jones, the 2024 Finals MVP, leads the team in rebounds (8.9 rpg) and is third in scoring at 14.6 ppg.
