New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd said he's feeling "grateful" as he recovers in the hospital after he was shot in New York City this week.
“God is real, God is powerful!” Boyd, 29, said in a post on his Instagram story Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m sorry I have no words at the moment..Just grateful!” he wrote, sharing a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed. “I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”
Boyd was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday outside Sei Less, a Manhattan restaurant and bar. He was hospitalized in critical condition, with a bullet lodged in his lung, a law enforcement source said at the time.
Boyd was involved in an altercation outside the restaurant after it closed, a spokesperson for Sei Less said Monday.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday.
Police said the gunman ran away, and they asked the public for help finding a man who they believe shot Boyd.
A spokesperson for the Jets said the team was “aware of the situation.”
