Sure, you can try and brave the maddening crowds at the shopping mall on Black Friday, but NASA’s got a better out-of-this-world alternative: exploring black holes. The space agency has lightheartedly rebranded the first day of the traditional Christmas holiday shopping season “Black Hole Friday,” using it to share information with the public about the places in space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot get out.
Using the hashtag #BlackHoleFriday, @NASA tweeted a series images and fun factoids about black holes. Now where else on Earth can you get a free deal like this?
