Savannah Guthrie will soon make her way back to "TODAY" after resting up from a vocal cord surgery she had underwent late last year.

On Tuesday, the "TODAY" co-anchor video called into the show to share the good news with Craig Melvin, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker, Carson Daly and Sheinelle Jones.

“This is my new voice!” she first told the team.

She later revealed that she will return briefly to "TODAY" on Friday to share her health journey with viewers before officially returning to the anchor desk on Monday.

When Guthrie shared in late December that she would have surgery on her vocal cords, she said she would be away from "TODAY" for a few weeks and would have to remain totally silent for some of her recovery.

In early January, she posted an update on Instagram, writing on a whiteboard that she is “all good” following her surgery. “Thanks for prayers and love,” her message also said. She continued to use that whiteboard to communicate with her kids.

In her video call on Tuesday, Guthrie told the "TODAY" team that she is still on vocal rest but she is allowed to talk five to 10 minutes every hour.

“I think the good news is that it worked,” she said of the surgery. “It’s kind of a slow recovery. You’re allowed to talk and then if you talk too much, which is a real risk for me, you feel it. So you have to really take it easy.”

Carson Daly then jokingly asked Guthrie if she took her new voice for a “test drive” to yell at her two kids, Vale, 11, and Charley, 9, whom she shares with her husband, Michael Feldman.

“Actually, yes,” she replied with a smile. “A long weekend will bring that out, especially when Mike had to travel. It finally got there.”
