The late, beloved "Golden Girls" actor Betty White will be memorialized on a new postage stamp next year.

The U.S. Postal Service announced Friday that one of its 2025 Forever Stamp offerings will include an illustration of White.

White died in 2021, weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Besides "Golden Girls," she was known for roles in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Boston Legal."

In a release featuring a sneak peek of the stamp, the Postal Service called White an "icon of American television" who "shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades."

"The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals," it wrote.

The stamp features a 2010 photo taken by Kwaku Alston that shows White smiling in front of a purple background. Dale Stephanos created the digital illustration based on the photo, the Postal Service said. Greg Breeding, an art director for the Postal Service, designed the stamp.

"I'd love to send a letter back to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him that everything is going to be OK," Stephanos wrote on Facebook.

The Postal Service also announced Allen Toussaint will be featured on the Black Heritage series stamp. The collection has honored a man one year and a woman the next, according to the Postal Service. Toussaint's will be the 48th stamp in the series.

The Postal Service described Toussaint, who died in 2015, as a "virtuoso pianist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer responsible for scores of hits across multiple genres."

The stamp includes a photo of Toussaint taken by Bill Tompkins in 2007, according to the Postal Service. It was designed by Ethel Kessler, an art director for the service.

Other 2025 stamp offerings include a love-themed stamp featuring art by Keith Haring, a Lunar New Year stamp for the year of the snake and a baby wild animal stamp collection.

"This early glimpse into our 2025 stamp program demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse range of subjects and designs for both philatelists and stamp enthusiasts," said Lisa Bobb-Semple, the Postal Service’s stamp services director.

Additional stamps for 2025 will be announced in the coming weeks and months. It is not clear exactly when they will be released.
