"Malcom in the Middle" is coming back to TV screens with a reboot set for Disney+.
The streaming service announced four new episodes in a series of posts on Instagram, writing "They’re back!" in the caption.
Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are set to reprise their starring roles in the Disney+ show.
According to Variety, which cited the show's official logline, the show will follow Malcom (Muniz) and his daughter who are "drawn into the family's chaos" when his parents, Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek), demand that Malcom attend their 40th wedding anniversary party.
Original series creator Linwood Boomer had a hand in the reboot and will serve as a writer and executive producer, Variety reported. No premiere date has been set.
The original series aired on Fox from 2000-2006 and consisted of a total 151 episodes. It won seven Emmy awards in its six-year run.
"'Malcolm in the Middle' is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and relatability," said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, according to Variety.
"Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we're so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again," Davis continued. "With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless."
The Instagram post from Disney+ featured Cranston and Kaczmarek in character shouting "Malcom!" In response, Muniz says, "Yes. I hear you. I'm coming!"
In a separate slide, Cranston noted that it's been 25 years since the original version of the show first aired, and said he is so excited for the reboot that he "may have peed. Just a little."
Muniz said he's been waiting for this moment for 18 years — since the show's series finale — and he looks forward to finding out what Malcom and his family are up to now.
Kaczmarek shared her excitement as well, saying, "What a delight that I get to yell at that kid again!"
