Victoria Beckham, when asked about being estranged from eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, said she and husband David Beckham have “always tried to be the best parents they can be”

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Thursday where she discussed her career pivots and getting out of debt, she touched on her children.

The fashion designer and former Spice Girl talked about how she had Brooklyn Beckham when she was 24-years-old, roughly two years after she began dating David Beckham.

Their eldest son said in a scathing Instagram post in January that he no longer wants to associate with his family.

“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he wrote, adding that his parents left him with “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he continued. “I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Brooklyn also alleged that his family promoted “countless lies in the media … to preserve their own facade.” He additionally claimed that his parents tried to “endlessly ruin” his relationship with now-wife Nicola Peltz, the 31-year-old actor and model whom he married in 2022.

He added that at his wedding, his mother attempted to “hijack” his first dance with Peltz, writing that she danced “very inappropriately” with him in front of guests. He said he “never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated” in his life.

In the interview published Thursday, Victoria Beckham was asked about her son, saying she and her husband have always “loved” their children “so much.”

“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it,” she said.

She did not mention Brooklyn Beckham by name.

David and Victoria Beckham have four children: Sons Brooklyn, Romeo, 23; Cruz, 21; and daughter Harper, 14.

In October, The New York Post reported that Brooklyn Beckham was absent from the premiere of his mother’s documentary, “Victoria Beckham,” and the Wall Street Journal noted he also did not attend his mother’s Paris Fashion Week show in March, despite his father and siblings being present.
