"Stranger Things" actor Randy Havens says some viewers have their facts Upside Down.
In a post on Instagram, Havens — who plays science teacher Scott Clarke — pushed back on online rumors about an unreleased extended cut of the Netflix show's fifth and final season.
"There's no secret Snyder cut of the show," Havens said in an all-caps post on his Instagram stories Sunday.
"Snyder cut" refers to a fan-led movement that demanded that Warner Bros. release a director's cut of Zack Snyder's superhero epic "Justice League." The theatrical edition, credited to replacement director Joss Whedon, departed from Snyder's original vision.
The pressure campaign worked. Warner Bros. distributed all 242 minutes of "Zack Snyder's Justice League" on the streaming platform HBO Max in 2021.
Havens insisted that there's no equivalent for "Stranger Things," which is set to conclude Wednesday.
"Please don't believe everything some random [expletive] tells you on the internet," Havens wrote in his Instagram story.
Havens was responding in part to a fan-made Google Doc detailing allegedly shortened storylines. The theorizing led to a Change.org petition calling on Netflix to put out the "unseen footage" from the science fiction series' farewell season.
"I believe it was more to the episodes and we didn’t see them either due to Netflix or the team of stranger things cutting them," the organizer of the petition said in the campaign description.
The petition had gathered more than 316,000 online signatures as of Monday afternoon.
Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the fan theories.
The final batch of "Stranger Things" episodes has drawn a mixed reception from professional critics and viewers. The fifth season has a 56% audience approval score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on more than 5,000 ratings.
Havens' other acting credits include roles on the AMC series "Halt and Catch Fire" and the NBC show "Grosse Pointe Garden Society." He has appeared on 14 episodes of "Stranger Things," according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
